Research Project on “the Following Evaluation of the Environmental Impact of Shuangliu Economic Development Zone in Sichuan” Successfully Passed Expert Inspection and Acceptance

On June 26th, 2014, the Sichuan Environmental Protection Department (SEPD) hosted the Concluding Acceptance meeting for the research project on “the Following Evaluation of the Environmental Impact of Shuangliu Economic Development Zone in Sichuan”, over 20 representatives from the SEPD, project undertaker Sichuan Environment and Engineering Appraisal Center (SEEAC) and the IT Electronics 11th Design & Research Institute Scientific and Technological Engineering Co. Ltd participated the meeting.  Experts were selected from the Appraisal Center for Environment and Engineering under the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Sichuan Provincial Counselor Room, Nankai University, Sichuan University, etc, to form the inspection team.

The project team presented results, achievements and innovation points of “the Following Evaluation of the Environmental Impact of Shuangliu Economic Development Zone in Sichuan”.  The project report provided planning adjustment suggestions from the perspectives of future development scale, industry positioning and layout for the Shuangliu Economic Development Zone, made new environmental impact prediction for further development plans, and proposed new mitigation measures.  The expert team fully affirmed the results and technical innovation of the project, and unanimously agreed on the acceptance of the project, and in the meantime made suggestions for future research directions.

The results of this project can provide decision references for realizing sustainable development of the Shuangliu Economic Development Zone in Sichuan and building a “Rural, Ecological, Low-energy, High-efficiency and Low-carbon Tianfu New Area”. The project also has important practical value for carrying out following environmental impact evaluation work in the future.
