Trainings on Technologies and Services for Sustainable Water and Resources Management at the Upper Stream of Yangtze River in Sichuan Held in Chengdu

To enhance the foreign exchange and cooperation on water resources management and wastewater treatment technologies, SEEAC and Southwest Jiaotong University co-hosted trainings on technologies and services for sustainable water and resource management at upper stream of Yangtze River in Sichuan on May, 16th. The participants totaled over 70, including German experts from RWTH Aachen University (including its affiliated departments, namely Sino-German Water Research Center, Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Water and Solid Waste Research Institute), Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), German Water Association, and Water Association Eifel-Rur (WVER), and Chinese experts from Southwest Jiaotong University, Sichuan University, Sichuan Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Electronic Development and Research Institute, etc. Yu Huiwen, the deputy director of Sichuan Environmental Protection Department attended the training and delivered the opening speech.

During the training, experts from both German and Chinese sides delivered 10 thematic reports, contents of which covered the Sino-German cooperation on water resources research, energy consumption issues in wastewater treatment and development of water resources management in Germany, as well as the development and exploration of wastewater treatment in Chengdu, etc. Participants had heated discussions around these topics. The training built a learning and exchange platform for both German and Chinese sides on researches on water resources and water treatment and founded basis for future cooperation.

The Technologies and Services Project for Sustainable Water and Resources Management at the Upper Stream of Yangtze River in Sichuan was participated by Sino-German universities, research institutes and enterprises as well as Chinese local management departments. The project aims at enhancing the Sino-German partnership on environmental technologies and services, promoting integrated water and waste management to achieve the goal of resources saving and protection.
